Espageti ak Hotdog (Haitian style Spaghetti w/hotdogs)

Spaghetti is great but when you Haitianfy it, yes I just said Haitianfy (that’s my word now LOL). When you Haitianfy it, it just becomes so much better. A lot of people look at Haitian Spaghetti as something weird, so much so Chris Rock mentioned it in his movie “Top Five” In the scene he was in an interview and he spoke about how good the spaghetti with hotdogs was and the interviewer looked baffled as he questioned “Hotdogs in Spaghetti?” To which Chris Rock replied yeah it’s really good. I don’t remember the scene word for word but it definitely made me smile that he mentioned it 🙂

I used Applegate hotdogs in mine because I really like the fact that they don’t contain nitrites or chemical preservatives. I literally heard their commercial while listening to a Pandora radio station and was intrigued. They taste good, maybe even better than the other stuff out there. P.S. This is sooooo not sponsored, I genuinely like the product, it’s a bit pricey but I think it’s worth it just to avoid putting bad stuff into your body.

In the video I talk about adding Matouks Calypso Sauce just to give it an extra oomph. I’m not usually the spicy food lover but as of lately I have been able to tolerate it more; if you don’t like spice by all means omit it but I must say I feel it gives it that authentic flavor. Another thing that is optional is the Pikliz juice, if you don’t have it on hand (you should) but if you don’t have it then it’s ok to not put it in but just know it won’t have that Haitian Je ne sais qua. One ingredient that is not optional is the Epis, you must have epis when cooking Haitian cuisine; if you don’t have it just wait until you do to make it, otherwise you’ll be wasting your time. I used Barilla spaghetti n. 8. I can eat this dish as is or I can be very Haitian and add some ketchup to it (it’s just what we do) some of us even add mayonnaise to it (don’t ask LOL).

Haitian style spaghetti is not saucy like typical Italian spaghetti yet it also isn’t dry; it taste really good!

This is an easy meal that can literally be prepared in less than 30 minutes depending on how long you take to chop up your veggies. I would add this to my weekly menu just because it’s so easy to make. To everyone who wanted my spin on Espageti ak Hotdog here it is!!
