Ji Korosòl (Soursop/Guanabana Smoothie)

15 minutes

medium

serves 3-4

So yesterday Ji Papay (Papaya Smoothie) and Ji Korosòl (Soursop Smoothie) went toe to toe, well not really toe to toe just talked about the fact that people will make a drink out of them rather than eating them. Today I will be talking about Korosòl, most people in English speaking countries call it Soursop and folks in Spanish speaking countries call it Guanabana but in Haiti we call it Korosòl. Whatever you call it, it is a deliciously sweet fruit that so happens to have Cancer fighting properties as well as other health benefits when eaten.

Ji Korosòl is pretty popular in the Haitian community so I definitely needed to have a recipe for it on this blog. First off Korosòl is expensive in America, I paid about $21 for the one pictured above. I would have loved to have a whole or sliced Korosòl next to my final drinks in pictures, you know, for aesthetics but it was way too expensive to buy two so my pictures don’t include the fruit (shrugs). I am happy that I was able to purchase the one that I did because it is something that you won’t find often so when you see it you should definitely buy it!

As you will see in the video below, my Korosòl started to go a little bad but it was fine for the most part, I just cut out the bad parts and used the good. I was able to split it in half and make two drinks out of it, one with water and the other with milk. I must say both were delicious but the one with milk was definitely my favorite. You can put this in the freezer and make it into a really good frozen treat. I blended it twice but I believe if you have a better blender than the one I have you may only have to do it once. I recently got a Vitamix blender from my aunty Florence as a gift (Thanks matant :-*) and I can’t wait to make Ji Korosòl in this blender. Watch the video and find the recipe below, hope you like and try it!!!
