So I’ve never done a chicken wing recipe for you guys and I’m sorry about that, I tried to make some back in 2016 and I didn’t like how they came out or the pictures; then I got distracted and didn’t try again until now. All I can say is LIFE!!! *Shrugs* LOL… It can be a handful but yes I’m here now and that’s what’s important.

Today I have this lovely Honey BBQ Rum Chicken Wing recipe for you, not many ingredients; you just need time, about an hour and a half and you’ve got restaurant quality wings on your table. So I added Haitian Rum to this Barbancourt (not sponsored although I wish this was) and that is totally optional. I’m using my spice blend called Li Bon all purpose seasoning (coming soon!!) in this recipe but don’t worry if you don’t have it, check the tips below for alternative spices you can use.

And now the elephant in the room…  the baking powder, I know you’re wondering what in the Sam Hell is going on here. Well don’t fret, I’ll briefly explain here: it makes the skin crispy and the sauce has something to hold on to! See, a simple explanation…  If you still want more info check out this article from America’s Test Kitchen where they talk about the wonders of baking powder on oven baked chicken. https://www.americastestkitchen.com/articles/3717-baking-powder-the-secret-weapon-for-crispy-chicken-skin

Another thing that ensures the skin gets crispy is to remove as much liquid you can from the chicken as possible. I used paper towels to pat them dry after cleaning them with a little vinegar and water.

I also used Sweet Baby Rays Honey Bbq sauce on these wings, in case you were wondering.
