Boulèt (Haitian Meatballs)

I love meatballs! What’s not to love about ground beef or turkey (the choice is yours) that has been seasoned with garlic, onions, and peppers;

Then rolled into a ball, dredged in flour…

And fried to perfection…

Sounds delicious right? That’s because it is delicious! I’m not a spicy food lover but I do love the slight spiciness of Haitian-style meatballs. If you’re not a spicy food lover you can just omit adding the pikliz juice altogether. I love to eat my meatballs served with white rice, Haitian sauce and sòs pwa nwa (black bean puree). Yummy Yum Yum Yum!

If you want to take the taste of your sauce up a notch, place 3-4 fried meatballs in it and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes, I’ll show you how to do that in the video. If you’ve never had Haitian-style meatballs you are in for a treat. I hope you try these and love them as much as I do.

Notes

Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar to meat before cooking if you decide to omit the pikliz juice.
In the video I drain the meatballs on a paper towel, however I don't do that anymore hence why I mentioned draining them on a wire baking rack.
