Haitian Zaboka (Avocado)

Today is National Avocado Day, yay!!!! Avocado is definitely one of my favorite fruits because it goes well with so many foods like Mayi Moulen ak Pwa Nwa (cornmeal with black beans). Spageti ak Aransò (spaghetti with smoked herring), Legim (mashed vegetables). In Haitian cuisine you gotta have your Zaboka (Avocado) if you’re eating Mayi Moulen, it’s a rare sight to see otherwise.

I usually eat Hass avocados but lately I have been buying the Dominican avocados which are pretty similar if not the same thing as the ones found in Haiti. They both are so creamy, I love their texture; the only difference that I see between the Haitian and Dominican avocado is the sweetness. Haitian avocado is super sweet, I was taken aback the first time I tried it last year on a trip to Haiti but I loved it nonetheless. Anyway guys, this is the first time I have posted 5 days a week for a whole month, the consistency challenge is complete and I did it, it was rough but I did!!! So I end it on Avocado day, Zaboka day.  Happy National Avocado Day and I hope you guys enjoyed my post this month, more to come!!
