Cream Cheese Frosting

Cream cheese frosting has been my go to ever since I learned how to make it in 2000 something. This is a recipe I wish I knew all my life, cause I don’t know what I was doing before LOL. 

Super simple ingredients to make this delicious frosting. Everything has to be room temperature so you’re not struggling to blend them together to get that silky end product. My secret is that I like to use off brand cream cheese as opposed to the most popular one that everyone typically uses. This is so not sponsored buy I really love Trader Joes’s cream cheese or the Clover Valley brand from Dollar General… I don’t make cream cheese frosting with anything else but those.

I love to put this frosting on Red Velvet (I have to give you guys my go to red velvet recipe), Carrot Cake, Haitian cake, etc. This batch specifically went on Carrot Cheesecake and it was spectacular. This is what my cake looked like, now I’m not the best cake froster but I think I do ok.

 

So if you’re looking for a basic cream cheese frosting that’s not gonna give you diabetes?? Look no further; this is the cream cheese frosting I always make for my cakes. There is always someone who tells me that they don’t like frosting cause it’s too sweet and I tell them to try mine and tell me what they think. Usually I make a believer out of them, most cream cheese frosting recipes I’ve seen call for 3 cups of confectioner’s sugar and I think that’s just too much. The way I look at it is like this, the cake also has sugar in itself, so I minimize the amount of sugar in the frosting to balance it out. So when you eat a slice of cake using this frosting recipe, you’re not gonna feel like you just ate a ton of sugar. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Ingredients

Adjust Servings
2 packs (8oz) cream cheese, softened
1 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups confectioner’s (powdered) sugar

Directions

1.

In a medium bowl, using a hand held mixer, mix cream cheese, butter and vanilla together until smooth.
Mark as complete
2.

Add vanilla and continue to mix using the mixer.
Mark as complete
3.

Add powdered sugar a little at a time until smooth and well combined.
Mark as complete
4.

Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and use on carrot, cheesecake etc.
Mark as complete
