Battle of the Soups
I, like all Haitians love Haitian food, it’s a hard question to answer when someone asks you what your favorite meal is. There are so many to ask someone to choose one. Two meals out of the many favorites in Haitian cuisine are Soup Joumou and Bouyon (click the links to find out more about them). I made them go toe to toe with each other on my instagram page. Out of curiosity I asked my followers which soup would they choose if they could only pick one out of the two.
Haitians are rebels and many of them said both, some people were so torn they cried out “why do I have to choose?” It was pretty funny to see the reactions of my followers, LOL… So the results are as follows: Bouyon came in with a whopping 12 votes, 9 people pledged their allegiance to Soup Joumou and my rebels who chose both were 8. So I guess Bouyon is King, personally I’m a Soup Joumou kinda girl, Bouyon is just ok to me. Actually, I never really liked it much until I had to do a recipe for it; that’s when I started to appreciate it more.
